Natural home remedies for diabetics to decrease blood sugar levels


There are some natural home remedies that may help diabetics to decrease blood sugar levels. However, these remedies are not a substitute for medical advice and treatment. You should always consult your doctor before trying any of them.


Some of the natural home remedies that may help lower blood sugar levels are:

  1. Exercise: Exercise is one of the best ways to lower blood sugar levels naturally. Physical activity helps your body use insulin more efficiently, which can lower blood sugar levels. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise, such as brisk walking, every day.

  2. Fenugreek: Fenugreek seeds are rich in fiber and may help slow down the absorption of carbohydrates and sugars in the gut. You can soak one to two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds in water overnight and drink the water along with the seeds in the morning on an empty stomach.

  3. Okra: Okra is a fruit that may help lower blood sugar levels by containing compounds like polysaccharides and flavonoids that have anti-diabetic effects. You can wash and cut some okras and soak them in water overnight. Drink the water in the morning and eat the okras.

  4. Amla juice: Amla or Indian gooseberry is a powerful antioxidant and may help protect the pancreatic cells from oxidative damage, which can impair insulin production. You can extract the juice of two to three amlas and mix it with a glass of water. Drink this daily before meals.

  5. Ginger: Ginger may help to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes.

  6. Apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar may help lower blood sugar levels by increasing glucose uptake by the cells and reducing glucose production by the liver. You can mix one to two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water and drink it before meals or at bedtime.

  7. Cinnamon: Cinnamon may help improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin activity. You can add half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a cup of warm water and drink it daily. Or Sprinkle cinnamon on your food or try adding it to your morning coffee or tea.

  8. Green tea: Green tea contains compounds that may help regulate blood sugar levels. Drink at least one cup of green tea per day.

  9. Aloe Vera: Aloe vera gel may help to lower fasting blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It may also help to reduce the risk of complications associated with high blood sugar levels.

  10. Gymnema Sylvestre: This herb has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries to help lower blood sugar levels. It may help to stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin, reduce sugar cravings and promote weight loss.

  11. Fiber-rich foods: Eating foods that are high in fiber, such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, can help regulate blood sugar levels.

  12. Hydration: Staying hydrated is important for managing blood sugar levels. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.


These are some of the natural home remedies that may help diabetics to decrease blood sugar levels. However, they are not proven to be effective for everyone and may have side effects or interactions with medications. Therefore, you should always consult your doctor before trying any of them.
